After the massive success of Animal, Ranbir Kapoor is prepping up for his next much-anticipated movie Ramayana. The magnum opus directed by Nitesh Tiwari is expected to go on floors in March 2024. While the makers are still finalizing the cast, as per a recent update, reports are rife that Lara Dutta and Bobby Deol have been approached for Ramayana.

Bobby Deol joins Ranbir Kapoor in Ramayana?

As per reports in Pinkvilla, Bobby Deol has been approached to play the role of Raavan’s younger brother Kumbhkaran while Lara Dutta will essay the role of Kaikeyi in Ramayana. While it was reported that Bobby Deol was approached for Kumbhkaran’s role in Ramayana, the actor’s team confirmed to ETimes that the actor is not involved in Nitesh Tiwari’s mythological movie. They denied the ongoing speculation.

Lara Dutta to play Kaikeyi in Ramayana?

Talking about Lara, a source revealed to Pinkvilla, “Nitesh Tiwari wants to cast actors who are apt to play the characters belonging to the most timeless tale of Indian History. He feels Lara Dutta is perfect to play the part of Princess Kaikeyi, the third consort of King Dasharatha. It’s a pivotal character that leads to the entire conflict in Ramayana, and Lara is excited to enter the fantastical world of Nitesh Tiwari”.

Last month, an X user claimed that Ranbir informed him about his next project, Ramayana, going on floors in the summer of 2024. The netizen met Ranbir at the airport and during the immigration queue, he briefly interacted with him.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the movie is touted to be mounted on a grand scale. As per reports, it will star Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Raavan. Speculations are also rife that Sunny Deol might essay the role of Hanuman in the film. It is expected to release in 2025.
