Sachin Pilgaonkar Reveals Satish Shah Got Kidney Transplant

Veteran actor Satish Shah, aged 74, passed away in Mumbai after suffering from a kidney ailment. Known and loved for his unforgettable role in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, he was admired for his humour, warmth, and kindness. Earlier this year, Satish underwent a kidney transplant — not for himself, but so he could live longer and continue caring for his wife, Madhu, who has been battling Alzheimer’s disease.

Sachin Pilgaonkar Shares Insight Of Satish Shah’s Health

His close friend Sachin Pilgaonkar shared that Satish’s only wish was to stay alive for Madhu’s sake. Just a few days before his death, Satish played music for her, and she smiled and danced to the cha-cha-cha, lost in the beautiful memories they had created together. Speaking to News 18, Sachin shared, “Unfortunately, even Madhu isn’t well. She has Alzheimer’s. This year, Satish got his kidney transplanted. He wanted to extend his life so that he could take care of Madhu. He was on dialysis. Earlier, he underwent a bypass surgery, which was successful.

“Supriya went to visit Satish and Madhu just three days back. I couldn’t go because I was shooting. He played some music and Supriya and Madhu danced. Madhu recalled how she would dance cha-cha-cha. Satish and I would keep exchanging texts. In fact, I received a message from him at 12:56 pm today, which means that he was absolutely fine even at that time. That I’m in shock is an understatement. Industry ka loss toh hua hi aur woh baat alag hai but it’s a very, very big personal loss to me.”

“Even in his final days, Satish’s love and dedication stood stronger than his pain. He showed the world that true love means giving selflessly, without expecting anything in return,” he concluded.

Madhu Shah, a designer by profession, always stayed away from the limelight despite her husband Satish Shah’s fame. Their love story was truly cinematic. They first met at the Sipta Film Festival, where Satish instantly fell for her, though Madhu initially rejected his proposals twice. He finally won her heart after approaching her parents, and the two married in 1972.

Their marriage, lasting over five decades, was built on love, respect, and companionship. The couple chose not to have children, finding happiness in each other’s company. Satish Shah will forever be remembered for his laughter, love, and lifelong devotion.
