Religion, culture and one’s sexual preferences are topics that are quite sensitive as they call for the most debates and arguments. Even the slightest of comment by a public figure can land them in major trouble. However, many a times comments spoken by the most revered figures can also initiate trouble against them. We all know how Godmen in our country are revered and worshipped, and considered no less than the Almighty.

Their spoken words influence their followers so at times it is imperative to make their followers realise that not everything they say can be right. Now, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar spoke about homosexuality but stating that it is a tendency and not permanent. He said this while giving a speech at JNU. “This is your tendency now… know that this tendency is not a permanent thing. It may change. I’ve seen many men who were gay later turn into heterosexuals, and there are those who are normal, who are called straight people, end up being gay later in life,” those were his words. This comment didn’t go down well with actress Sonam Kapoor who tweeted, “Homosexuality is not a ‘tendency’ it’s something you are born as and is absolutely NORMAL. To tell someone you can change is irresponsible.” She also tweeted, “WTF is wrong with god men, if you want to learn something about Hinduism and culture it’s better to follow @HindolSengupta & @devduttmyth”
