The inheritance dispute over late businessman Sunjay Kapur’s estate has taken a new turn. On Tuesday, the Delhi High Court issued an order restraining Sunjay Kapur’s wife, Priya Sachdev, and his sister, Mandhira Kapur Smith, from making statements against each other. Priya is involved in a legal battle with Sunjay’s second wife, actress Karisma Kapoor, over his estate. She had claimed that Mandhira’s recent podcast comments caused her social humiliation.
Delhi HC Refrains Priya Sachdev, Mandhira Kapur From Making Statements Against Each Other
Earlier this month, Priya Kapur filed a Rs 20 crore lawsuit against Mandhira Kapur Smith and a podcaster, alleging that their interactions were damaging her reputation. As per the latest update from PTI, Justice Mini Pushkarna issued an order in Priya’s lawsuit against Mandhira Kapur. She accused her of a persistent, malicious, and defamatory campaign through podcasts, interviews, social media posts, and public statements. The judge stated, “Both parties are directed to exercise restraint in making statements on each other, directly or indirectly.”
The court also summoned Mandhira Kapur Smith and podcaster Pooja Chaudhri for the hearing scheduled in May. Priya’s senior counsel alleged that Mandhira had shared social media content aimed at tarnishing her reputation. Conversely, Mandhira’s lawyer described the situation as a “concerted media vilification campaign” against her.
In her lawsuit, Priya Kapur claimed that within days of Sunjay’s death, Mandhira initiated a systematic effort to malign and socially discredit her. The complaint stated that Mandhira’s defamatory statements falsely suggested dishonesty, moral impropriety, professional incompetence, concealment of assets, and illegitimate control over Sunjay’s companies.

About Sunjay Kapur’s Will Dispute
Legal proceedings continue over Sunjay’s estate. In August last year, Priya submitted a document to the Delhi High Court claiming it was his will. This claim was challenged by Sunjay’s children, Samaira and Kiaan, along with Rani. Reports suggest Sunjay’s assets were valued at around Rs 30,000 crore, though Karisma’s children indicated they were unaware of the actual worth.
