Sunny Deol starrer Jaat

Sunny Deol’s much-awaited film Jaat was released in theatres on April 10 and has received great reviews from both critics and audiences. However, the film is now facing legal trouble after a scene in the movie was accused of hurting the sentiments of the Christian community.

Sunny Deol’s Film Jaat Faces Legal Trouble Over Controversial Scene

In response to the controversy, the makers of the film released an official apology on social media. In the letter, they said, “There has been a backlash for a specific scene in the film. The scene has been removed from the film with immediate effect. Our intention was not to hurt any religious sentiments. We deeply regret it and have taken a quick action of deleting the scene from the film. We sincerely apologize to everyone whose beliefs have been hurt.”

The issue became serious when the Jalandhar police registered an FIR (First Information Report) on Wednesday. The case falls under Section 299 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with actions meant to hurt religious feelings. The complaint was made not just against the director Gopichand Malineni, but also against the lead actors and producers of the film.

The controversy started after a viewer pointed out a particular scene featuring actor Randeep Hooda. In the scene, he is shown standing under a crucifix inside a church, behaving in a threatening way while people are praying. This part of the film was seen as disrespectful to Jesus Christ and offensive to the Christian community.

Due to the growing criticism and legal complaints, the scene has now been removed from the movie. Director Gopichand Malineni has not yet made a personal statement, but the team’s quick response and apology show their intent to address the issue respectfully.
