Choreographer Terence Lewis recently grabbed the headlines when a video of him claiming he touched Nora Fatehi inappropriately went viral. The video invited nasty trolls and memes on Terence.

Opening about the viral video, Terence told us, “People have wild imaginations of who I am and what I can be and it’s nice in their own head. But it need not be the reality. Truth is stranger than fiction and honestly, I just feel that it’s for children. A child would get very excited about doing something like this. Or a teenager who had not crossed that barrier of actually being with a woman would be very excited to touch something like that. But if you have been with a woman and lived your life quite happily, I don’t think you would get out to something like that. That is one. Secondly, I come from a profession where I actually am physically in touch with people’s bodies. In fact, my dance requires it. Two weeks before the incident happened, I was dancing with Nora because she invited me to dance and we were in a very intimate dance sequence, where more than that was happening. If a woman senses that a guy has his intention in the wrong place, she will feel it in his touch and eyes. Nobody will dance with you or even come close to you if you are going to have these kinds of intentions all the time in your head. This happens only with people who probably don’t get it or don’t get that kind of attention or who probably don’t hang around with girls enough or who don’t have female company. This is very childish to me.”

He added, “My entire company is made up of women. All the heads of my company are women. So it’s inappropriate in many ways. It was funny as a meme and I also laughed and people started taking it very seriously. I started getting messages like ‘how dare you to do this and that’ I was like ‘are you dumb to think that this is the truth’. So, it was a bit shocking to see the IQ level of people and the level of readiness to accept something like that. It did put me in a spotlight in a very funny way but I do realise that being in this profession, you have to take certain things with a pinch of salt. People can love you also and sometimes because of the fact that social media has its way of getting viral so much, there is no end to people having opinions and casting their aspersions on you.”
