Neetu Kapor’s Daadi Ki Shaadi Fails To Cross Rs 1 CR On Day 1
Neetu Kapoor made her return to the big screen after a four-year break with the comedy film Daadi Ki Shaadi, featuring Kapil Sharma and her daughter Riddhima Kapoor, who debuts with this project. Despite the notable cast, the film has had a weak start at the box office. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, it collected around Rs 60 lakh net on Day 1, with a gross of Rs 72 lakh, failing to even touch the Rs 1 crore milestone.
The film was shown across 1,789 screenings on its opening day and registered an overall Hindi occupancy of 12.99%. Morning shows saw a low turnout of 4.23%, which improved slightly in the afternoon to 12.69%. Further, peaked at 16.31%, and then dipped again to 13.77% during evening shows. Region-wise, Delhi NCR had the highest number of screenings (307 shows). But managed only 8.5% occupancy, while Mumbai’s 92 shows performed marginally better at 12.5%.
Daadi Ki Shaadi Trails Behind Recent and Earlier Releases
In comparison, last week’s release Ek Din, produced by Aamir Khan and starring Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi, opened at Rs 1 Cr. Meanwhile, Kapil Sharma’s earlier films have seen stronger openings. His last release, Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2, collected Rs 1.85 Cr on Day 1. However, it still surpassed his OTT-style project Zwigato, which opened at Rs 43 lakh. Even his 2017 film Firangi performed better with a Rs 2.10 crore opening.
For Neetu Kapoor as well, this opening is relatively low compared to her previous outing, Jug Jugg Jeeyo, which had a strong start of Rs 9.28 Cr. As the weekend unfolds, the film will now depend on word of mouth. Especially amid competition from ongoing releases like Raja Shivaji, Bhoot Bangla, and Dhurandhar: The Revenge. As they continue to attract audiences, this may further impact Daadi Ki Shaadi’s performance. It remains to be seen whether Daadi Ki Shaadi can gain momentum in the coming days.
