Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmaavat’ is offocially the highest grosser of the year 2018 till date with the collection of Rs 279.84 crore approx. The second highest grosser of the year was Akshay Kumar’s ‘PadMan’ with the collection of Rs 79 crore approx. The movie, which also stars Nushrat Bharucha and Sunny Singh, has done extremely well at the box office in its third weekend by collecting Rs 9.75 crore approx. The total collection of the film is 82.20 crore approx. The Luv Ranjan directorial has beaten Akshay’s ‘PadMan’ at the box office. This is definitely a big acheivement as it is not easy for a film with the biggest superstar of the industry to be beaten by actors who are just 4 films old.

On the other hand, new releases like have turned out to be a dud except ‘Hate Story 4’ which in spite of worst reviews has managed to earn Rs 11.75 crore in its first weekend. Well, it is good for an erotic-thriller to collect this much of an amount, but the fourth instalment, of the franchise, in its first weekend has collected less than the third and the second instalment. The other two releases ‘3 Storeys’ and ‘Dil Juunglee’ had no takers. The former has collected Rs 1.60 crore at the box office and the latter didn’t even reach 1 crore and has just collected Rs 90 lakhs.
