With social media making celebrities more accessible than ever, conversations around audience reactions, online criticism, and celebrity culture have become increasingly relevant. Akash Makhija believes that while people today may seem more sensitive and opinionated, the internet has simply given everyone a platform to express themselves. In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Bubble, he spoke about the give-and-take relationship between creators and viewers, explaining how audience choices influence the kind of content being produced. He also reflected on how social media, paparazzi culture, and changing perceptions of stardom have reshaped the bond between actors and their fans. Akash Makhija REACTS To Audience Becoming Extra Sensitive To Violent Content
When asked if the audience is too sensitive nowadays, Akash responded, “Yeh criticism is everywhere right now because I think the internet has given everyone the power to have an opinion, right? So it’s okay. I mean, log agar kisi cheez mein badlav chahte hain, that’s fine. But at the same time, log woh content isliye bhi bana rahe hain kyunki log usse dekh bhi rahe hain. Otherwise, agar main as a creator sirf violence hi dikhata rahoon aur log bolein, ‘Nahi yaar, violence galat hai. Hum yeh dekhenge hi nahi,’ toh phir koi bhi aisa content banayega hi nahi.”
He continued, “Lekin agar aap wahi cheez dekh bhi rahe ho, toh you’re giving them the message that, ‘You know what? Keep making something like that because we’ll watch it.’ So it’s a give-and-take. But out there, everyone has an opinion now, and I think that’s okay as well. Why not? Pehele ke zamaane mein log stars aur bade actors tak pahunch hi nahi paate the. Isliye ek suspense rehta tha ki real life mein yeh kaise hain, kya hain. Shayad isi wajah se unka stardom bhi itna bada hota tha. Aajkal sabki life social media par open hai.”
Akash Makhija Says People Are Crazy For Characters
Akash added, “Paparazzi ke through bhi sab kuch saamne aa jaata hai. People are very much interested in knowing you. So I think if you’re out there in the public eye, then people will also have an opinion. They can put it in the comments, they can reach out to you through DMs. So it’s a give-and-take. Hum casual ho gaye hain, aur hum thoda in cheezon ko samajhte bhi hain. But then there are other cities jahan, you know, woh craze bahut zyada hai.”
Concluding, he said, “Aur woh craze actually aapse nahi hota, balki aapne jo characters play kiye hain, usse hota hai. I think they are getting mesmerised by those characters. But on the other side, Mumbai mein specifically, I feel yeh thoda kam hai. It’s not that much because logon ko pata hai ki achha, yeh shooting hoti hai, yeh process hai, yeh actor hai aur isne woh character play kiya hai. It’s not something jahan log bolte hain, “Wow!” Woh wala factor yahan thoda sa kam hai.”
Akash Makhija is currently enjoying the success of Raakh and Gram Chikitsalay S2.
