EXCLUSIVE: Rahul Raj Singh Talks About Pratyusha Banerjee’s Financial Crisis, Couldn’t Pay Her Rs 5K Car Loan; Says, “She Was In Debt”

Rahul Raj Singh revealed Pratyusha Banerjee was facing significant financial difficulties when they met. Banerjee was under pressure because of a significant loan she had taken to support her parents, and faced harassment from the loan lenders. Rahul Raj opened up on how he helped Pratyusha during her financial debt phase and got her projects in a recent interview.

Speaking to Bollywood Bubble, Rahul Raj Singh revealed Pratyusha Banerjee’s financial struggle, loan and family relations. He said, “When Pratyusha had gone to my home in Ranchi, she hadn’t gone to her own house in Jamshedpur. When asked why she didn’t go there, she said, ‘From today, Rahul’s father and mother are my parents because my parents have only given me pain.’ These were her exact words, and no one else’s. She was a grown-up, a known personality, people knew her, no one could match the kind of torture she went through. People even tried to stop her from going to her parents. I’m sorry, but the kind of allegations they made.”

Continuing, he said, “So what happened was, to protect her father, I feel her mother filed a false case against me, even though she always used to speak nicely to me. Her parents had so many loans and losses at the bank that they couldn’t even pay a Rs 5000 car loan — that’s how bad their financial condition was. You can go search on YouTube, type ‘Pratyusha Banerjee car loan,’ do some research, and you’ll see they couldn’t even pay Rs 5,000. I ended up fighting with the loan collectors who said things like, ‘Teri aukaat hai yaahan aane ki?’ When I came into her life, I realised she was already devastated. She had left Bombay and gone to Jamshedpur.”

Rahul Raj On Getting Pratyusha Banerjee Projects

The actor said, “I was the one who gave her an AD assignment. It was for Pushkar Karmakar, a production guy in my Ambar Dhara, and at that time, he gave her the job. She earned around 2.5 to 3 lakhs from that AD. That helped us get by when we came back here. Then she hired a manager, I forget the name, and through him, she got a role in a TV serial by Rashmi Sharma, which starred Dipika Kakar, a show that had been quite popular. It was Sasural Simar Ka, and Pratyusha had entered the show midway.“

He added, “That manager coordinated and helped her get in. Money from serials comes 60 to 90 days after airing, so she initially survived on the money from the AD. After that, we got her a lot of work from here and even got her into Power Couple. This all started happening after I came into her life and helped bring some system to it.”

About Pratyusha’s Car Loan

Approximately a year before her death, Pratyusha Banerjee had taken out a car loan. Reports indicated that she defaulted on an EMI payment of Rs 5,000. Loan recovery agents visited her home regarding the overdue amount, which Pratyusha initially claimed was harassment. Her then-boyfriend, Rahul Raj Singh, also alleged that she was experiencing financial difficulties, including challenges in repaying loans, and claimed that her parents were involved in taking loans in her name. Pratyusha’s parents stated that they were facing severe financial hardships themselves, living in a single room and having taken loans after her death.
