Vyom Recalls Staying In Hostel, Paying Rs 300 Rent Per Day Before Entering The Industry

Vyom, who recently gained praise for his role in Mannu Kya Karegga opposite newcomer Sachi Bindra, has opened up about his tough journey to landing his first major project. In a chat with Bollywood Bubble, Vyom shared that his path wasn’t easy and was filled with rejection.

Vyom Opens Up About His Struggles Before Mannu Kya Karegga

Sharing his struggle story, he said, “I’ve probably faced thousands of rejections since I started auditioning in 2018–2019. And that’s the reality of this journey: rejection is part of it. These hurdles are what make many people give up, but for me, they became stepping stones.”

Vyom, who comes from Delhi and studied mechanical engineering, said that when he first moved to Mumbai, he didn’t know anyone in the film industry. “I used to stay in hostels, paying 300–500 rupees a day because that’s all I could afford. Back in college, I even had to submit fake leave applications just to maintain attendance while sneaking off to Mumbai for auditions.”

He would often wait outside casting offices, ask for auditions, and send his profile around most of the time with no response. Still, he didn’t give up. “Slowly, small things began to click. My first crowd work was in Guilty on Netflix, then I got a tiny role in Badhaai Do, then a short film as a lead, and eventually Garmi happened on Sony LIV. That became the turning point. One step led to another, and that’s how the snowball effect starts.”

Vyom strongly believes that rejection is part of the process. “Rejection is not the opposite of success, it’s a part of success. Without rejections, you don’t grow,” he concluded by saying that those difficult moments helped shape him into the person and actor he is today.

Vyom On Casting Based On Connections Rather Than Auditions

Vyom was also questioned about his thoughts on the sense that casting decisions in Bollywood are more about connections than auditions. To which he said, “I think casting is a mix. Most casting houses do proper auditions, but many times decisions are already made internally. As an outsider, it’s tougher since you don’t start with those networks. But eventually, once people notice your work, they reach out, and that’s how more opportunities come your way.”

Vyom was last seen in Mannu Kya Karegga, The film blends modern love with classic Bollywood emotions. The film’s music, visuals, and story promise to strike a chord with young viewers as well as fans of timeless romance. On the work front, he will be next in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Karna.
