Karan Johar’s magnum opus Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham boasted an impressive cast. The 2011 film featured Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Kareena Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan in pivotal roles. But did you know legendary actress Waheeda Rehman was also a pivotal part of the movie? But she had to opt out for personal reasons?

Recently the veteran actress appeared as a guest on Arbaaz Khan’s chat show, The Invincibles. Waheeda Rehman was at her candid best as she opened up about how she was to play Amitabh Bachchan’s mother in K3G but had to opt-out.

Speaking on The Invincibles the legendary actress said, “After doing Lamhe I went back to Bengaluru. When I came back after a long time I did Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham. When I went on the set, found everything so different and so cool that I liked it very much.

She added, “It left me wondering what has changed but could not understand. Then I noticed that there are reflected lights soft and so we could open our eyes. Earlier there were strong lights so technically there have been a lot of improvements. The performances are also more natural and very down to earth. It’s a joy to watch them.”

Reportedly the actress opted out of the movie due to the demise of her husband Kamal Jeet. Her role was later played by veteran actress Achla Sachdev in te movie.
