Can you believe it’s been 11 years since Happy New Year hit theatres and had us all cheering ‘Indiawaale!’ at full volume? The heist, the dance, the madness — Farah Khan’s film had it all packed with glitz, glitter, and Shah Rukh Khan’s swag, one man brought a whole lot of heart and laughter to Team Indiawaale none other than Boman Irani as Temhton Irani, aka “Tammy.” the safecracker with a soft spot for snacks and the occasional 30-second fit.
Happy New Year Completes 11 Years
He wasn’t just part of Team India Waale he was the gang’s beating and slightly trembling heart. His reactions, his foodie frustrations, and his dramatic flair made Tammy an instant fan favourite. So, as Happy New Year celebrates 11 glorious years, let’s rewind to some of the funniest Boman Irani’s aka Tammy moments that still make us go ROFL.
The “5 Kilo Ka Haath” Scene
The scene may belong to Sonu Sood’s fiery “Jag,” but it’s Boman Irani’s priceless reactions that steal the show. As Jag throws punches left, right, and centre, the rest of the gang including Tammy watches the chaos unfold like it’s live entertainment. Tammy’s transition from panic to pure amusement is the kind of subtle comedy only Boman can pull off. The way he flinches, freezes, then starts enjoying the mayhem? Pure gold. It’s the perfect mix of “Main kahaan phas gaya” and “Arre wah, mazaa aa gaya!”
“ Peter, Is That You?”
Just when Tammy thinks he’s found a quiet corner to enjoy his snack, fate and Peter strike again! In this laugh-out-loud moment, Peter (a bouncer), fresh from being beaten up thanks to Charlie’s (Shah Rukh Khan) masterful wordplay, crashes quite literally into Tammy’s peaceful snack break. Tammy, mid-bite of his pineapple cake, ends up face-first in it after Peter lands right on him. Without even turning around, he mutters, “Peter, is that you?” deadpan delivery, perfect comic timing. It’s one of the funniest bits in the film and classic Boman brilliance.
The Ballet fiasco oops rehearsals
Somewhere between a heist plan and a dance championship, Team Indiawaale decided to learn ballet. What followed was peak Farah Khan madness, pink tutus, awkward pirouettes, and Nandu [Abishek Bachchan] failing spectacularly to lift Tammy. The best part? Tammy’s skirt slips mid-lift, sending everyone into a full-blown panic and some standing frozen between horror and laughter. It’s chaotic, clumsy, and absolutely endearing — much like Team Indiawaale itself.
Tammy fits
Tammy’s unpredictable fits, lasting exactly 30 seconds, became one of his signature traits throughout the movie. What makes these moments so funny is how differently the gang reacts each time, sometimes rushing to help, sometimes pretending not to know him, and sometimes just watching in amused helplessness. Boman Irani plays it with impeccable restraint — funny, not overdone — making every “episode” equal parts hilarious.
“Deaf Mule!” — The Tammy–Jag Banter
If there was ever a comedy duo that deserved their own spin-off, it’s Tammy and Jag. Their constant back-and-forth — full of muttered insults, teasing, and that unforgettable Deaf mule was pure entertainment. The way Boman and Sonu bounce off each other gives the film its lively, almost sitcom-like energy. Even in the middle of tension, Tammy’s sass never takes a break.

If you thought Tammy’s charm stopped at his one-liners, think again. In this short behind the scenes clip “Valentine Goals Ft. Tammy,” Boman Irani delivers peak comedic gold — as a bunch of women chase him down with flower garlands while he frantically tries to escape. The way he runs, panics, only Tammy could turn being chased by admirers into a scene straight out of a rom-com gone wrong. Eleven years later, we’re still not sure what’s funnier —the chaos or his expressions through it all. Either way, Tammy remains the most unintentionally romantic man in Indiawaale.
