Sajid Nadiadwala is reportedly planning to develop a Tere Naam sequel with Salman Khan and a new pairing. The original film, directed by the late Satish Kaushik. It remains one of Salman Khan’s most acclaimed works, featuring him alongside Bhumika Chawla. Released in 2003, the romantic drama has left a lasting impact.

Now, 22 years later, Sajid Nadiadwala is said to be working on Tere Naam 2. The idea first surfaced in 2020, and the producer is reportedly in advanced talks to acquire the franchise rights, which currently belong to the original producers, Sunil Manchanda and Mukesh Talreja.

Salman Khan’s Tere Naam Sequel In Works?

With this sequel, Sajid reportedly aims to bring Salman back to reprise his role. A source told Mid-Day, “Once the legal and financial packaging is done, they’ll lock in Salman and only then announce a director. A tentative script is being worked upon.” The plan is to introduce a fresh pairing, depending on whether Salman revisits his original character or takes on a new avatar.

The discussions are ongoing, with Sajid wanting to “own the IP for creative freedom.” The makers intend to position the Tere Naam sequel as a legacy revival, blending nostalgia with contemporary sensibilities. Regarding Salman’s involvement, the source added, “Salman has heard about it. But nothing has been officially offered yet; he needs to see a workable script, budget, and the [division] of rights. He is not one to commit before clarity.”
