Actress Samantha Akkineni recently dropped her surname Akkineni and changed her display name on Instagram and Twitter to simply ‘S’. So, there were reports that started doing the rounds on social media that her married life is in trouble. Samantha is married to Naga Chaitanya. Well, in her recent interview, she opened up on dropping her last name.

In an interview with Film Companion, when The Family Man actress was asked about it, she said, “I will respond to any controversy or a troll only when I want to talk about it, but not when people ask me.” She added that she does not want to react to anything and have any sort of conflict. She said, “I don’t want to react to any of those things. I don’t like conflicts. Like how anyone is entitled to their own opinion of things, even I’m entitled to mine.”

Samantha also said in the interview that she doesn’t put anybody between her and her career choices, be it her fans or anybody else. She also said that she will be taking a break as she has been working for 11 years.

Well, amidst the reports of their marriage in trouble, there surfaced reports of the couple constructing a farmhouse in Goa.


On the work front, Samantha was last seen in The Family Man 2 where she played the Sri-Lankan Tamilian woman Raji. She faced a lot of flak from a section f people for her character. But, she remained unaffected by trolls and controversies. She was recently awarded the Best Actress (Series) award for her performance as Raji in The Family Man Season 2 at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2021. She will be seen in Gunasekhar’s Shakuntalam that is her dream role.

Talking about Naga Chaitanya, he is making his Bollywood debut with Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha. In the same interview, Samantha said that Naga is totally in awe of Aamir.
