Kareena K3G

After the birth of her Baby boy Taimur Ali Khan last year, the fans and admirers of actress Kareena Kapoor Khan were eagerly waiting for her to return on the big screen. Many would be aware that recently the actress is back on the film sets and have started shooting for her upcoming film ‘Veere Di Wedding’. If we have a close look at the more than a decade long career of the actress, it wouldn’t be wrong in saying that apart from her acting prowess, she is undisputedly considered as the fashion icon of the industry. And when we recall about Kareena and fashion together, who wouldn’t remember her popular character of Poo in filmmaker Karan Johar’s ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham…’ (2001). Although, the actress had made her debut with ‘Refugee’ (2000) and went on work in a couple of films after that, it was the character of Poo, that proved to be a big breakthrough in her acting career at that point of time. However, not many would be aware that this iconic and fabulous character found its inspiration in none other than Kareena herself. Recently, our eyes caught upon an old interview of Kareena. The actress had appeared as the celebrity guest on host Simi Garewal’s talk show ‘Rendezvous with Simi Garewal’. And it was her friend and filmmaker Karan Johar who revealed (through a special message) that his inspiration for the character of Poo was Kareena herself. Yes! You read that right.

It was during her conversation, when she was asked that how much like Poo is she in real life? The actress replied to this by saying, “You know in real life actually you won’t believe it if I tell you. I’m too simple a girl, I would never dress like her, I would never wear the kind of clothes she wore, I would never put so much makeup on, I would not be bothered if my hair is completely out of place or not, I mean and I had to play this character, so I don’t know how I did it.”

And as she finished by saying this, it was Karan Johar’s voice that was heard then. His special message recorded for the actress was played on a TV where he said, “Stop lying Bebo, you’re just like Poo. In fact, my inspiration was you yourself. I remember watching her, she was standing at the Bombay Times party and I looked at the distance and I enter the party with Manish Malhotra and I said you know she was standing you know with her leg really one in front of the other like models stand and she was posing for no one, I don’t know why? The cameras weren’t around her but yet she was posing and I said this one is Poo and I just written the character, I just started conceiving Poo and I said nobody can play Poo better than her and she’s Poo in real life today. I mean she says ‘Whatever’ at the drop of the hat and she’s just become Poo even today, everybody, her mother complained to me she said will you tell her that she is no longer acting in the film anymore and the cameras are off and to stop being Poo. But, what to do, I think I created a monster, I created you.” (Also Read: When Kareena Kapoor ran to protect her father Randhir Kapoor from ‘evil’ Amitabh Bachchan)

Well, indeed we agree with Karan that there would have been no one who could have played Poo better than Kareena Kapoor Khan. The character left a major mark, became a trendsetter and will always be the ultimate style icon!

Recently, we stumbled upon an old interview of Anushka Sharma where the actress revealed an interesting incident. Anushka revealed when she got to know that her mother Ashima Sharma always wanted her to be an actress.

It was during Anushka’s conversation on show ‘India’s Most Desirable’ when after listening to her mother Ashima Sharma’s message that had been recorded for her, the actress asked host Simi Garewal if she can say something about her mum. And then the actress went on to share this incident from the time when she had got the news of been signed on for ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’. (Also Read: Did you know? Little Abhishek Bachchan found his mother’s films very depressing)

She said, “There was this one time I was driving back from Yash Raj Studios and I got the news, Adi (Aditya Chopra) told me. And I was driving back and I couldn’t drive anymore because I was crying. I was so happy.. I was crying. So I stopped… I stopped the car and I pulled over and I called my mother and I told her that I got this film. And you know what my mum told me? There’s this turtle that used to be there in my living room. It was I think some Feng Shui thing. You just open the turtle and you put something like a wish inside that turtle and you shut it. And when your wish comes true you take it out. So she never never told me about this. But then she came down after she heard that I have got the film she opened that and showed it to me. She’d written it there ‘I hope my daughter stars in a Yash Raj film’. I swear… it’s unbelievable. So I think somewhere she always wanted me to be an actress.”

Upon hearing this, Simi reacted, “What are you saying?” Anushka added, “She said that she’d written this long ago, one thing for my brother and one thing for me.” Simi immediately asked if what was written for her brother came true as well, to which, Anushka nodded her head in agreement. And then when Simi asked Anushka if she (Simi) could write something in this magical, wish-fulfilling turtle, Anushka smiled and said, “You have to meet my mom right (smiles) she has some direct contact with God.”

Indeed, every parent wishes the best for his/her children and this incident is something that showcases this perfectly. Unbelievable, unforgettable, and totally lovable.
