The South superstar Rajinikanth will soon be seen in his next, Jailer. Prior to the film’s release, its song, Kaavaalaa has already become a rage. Featuring Tamannaah Bhatia and Rajini in the video, the song has become an Instagram reel trend with people all over attempting the hook step. On Friday, the actor had the audio launch for the film’s album in Chennai. There, Rajini sir interacted with the media and shared some personal stories of his, including his battle with alcoholism.

Rajinikanth on his battle with alcoholism

The superstar has dealt with a drinking problem in his life. And he insisted that if not for it, he would have done far better in life and been a bigger star. He said, “If there was no alcohol in my life, I would have served the society. Alcoholism is the biggest mistake in life, he said. However, he didn’t ask people to give up alcohol seeing his example. “I am not saying to avoid it totally. Have alcohol when you have fun. Don’t drink regularly. It will spoil the health & happiness.”

Rajini sir on the failure of Vijay’s Beast

The director of Jailer is Nelson Dilipkumar, whose last film was with Vijay titled Beast. However, the film received bad reviews from critics as well as audiences. It failed to connect with the audience and consequently, there were speculations that he had been removed from Jailer owing to that. However, during the audio launch event, Rajini sir put those rumours to rest by revealing that Beast was actually not a loss making venture.

He informed that even though the reviews for the film were bad, the box office performance was still good for Beast. And eventually, the distributors suffered no loss from the film. In all, it wasn’t a bad venture for the producers.

During the event, Rajinikanth also revealed that once he wanted to get away with the ‘superstar’ tag that comes next to his name on screen. However, the producers and directors denied that request of his. He even made the same request after hearing the lyrics of Hukam.

As forJailer, apart from Rajini sir, the film also features Jackie Shroff, Ramya Krishnan, Mohanlal, Shivarajkumar, Vasanth Ravi and Tamannaah. It will release theatrically on August 10, 2023.
