Salman Khan at court

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan‘s Hit & Run Case hearing has been adjourned to July 20th now. The actor had filed for an appeal against the five year sentence awarded to him, the hearing that was to be held on July 2nd was deferred till July 13. This was on the insistence of Salman’s counsel Amit Desai who had requested for three weeks’ adjournment to check whether the documents were in order.

Salman Khan’s lawyer had on July 2nd said he would need to check whether translation of any document in vernacular language is required to be done in English. He also wanted to check whether any documents were missing, in which case he would file an application seeking a direction to place them on record.

Salman Khan’s Hit & Run Case is regarding, when a man was killed and four others were wounded as the actor’s Toyota Land Cruiser ran over them while they were asleep on a pavement outside a bakery in suburban Bandra on September 28, 2002. Salman Khan was convicted by a sessions court on May 6 and sentenced to five years’ imprisonment. The High Court had on May 8 stayed the execution of the 5-year sentence and granted him bail.

Salman Khan had challenged the court of wrongly convicting him him under the culpable homicide charge. The Dabangg Khan had also added that the trial court had not taken into consideration, the fact that four prosecution witnesses had said that there were four persons present in the Toyota Land Cruiser when the accident occurred.
