Jayasurya starrer Sunny was one of the awaited movies of the year. The movie which got released today on OTT platform Amazon Prime Video is getting good reviews from the masses. However, the movie is not really getting appreciated by the critics. One of the viewers wrote, “Beautifully made movie driven by a masterful performance by @Actor_Jayasurya. His subtle pained performance throughout is spectacular. Such an effortless actor. He’s a complete class apart. The subtle layers of lessons, the faith & the love has touched my heart.” Another Twitter user tweeted, “Decent depiction of a desolated man’s quarantine life. Nothing more, Nothing less. Jayasurya, usual guaranteed performance. Neat Cinematography.”

In the movie, we get to see how Jayasurya’s character Sunny is back in Kerala from Dubai. And is asked to get isolated from all and is under quarantine because of the Covid-19 pandemic. He is locked up at a hotel and his quarantine period becomes his living nightmare. This one-man movie has elements of various genres including thriller which helps to keep the audience on the edge of the seat.

For the unversed, this movie marks Jayasurya’s 100th movie. The film is also a special one as this drama is Jayasurya’s eighth collaboration with Ranjith. Yes, you read it right! The actor-director duo had last teamed up for Pretham 2, which was released in 2018.

This Malayalam-language musical drama is written and directed by Ranjith Sankar. The film is jointly produced by Ranjith Shankar and Jayasurya under the banner of Dreams N Beyond Productions. The movie also stars Innocent, Siddique, Vijayaraghavan, Mamta Mohandas and Aju Varghese in supporting roles.
