Filmmaker-actor-singer Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Don’ series headlined by Shah Rukh Khan, is hands down one of the most successful films of his career. The second instalment of this hit series was released in 2011, and ever since then, speculations surrounding ‘Don 3’ has been rife. Badshah’s fans have been eagerly waiting for the announcement of the third instalment.

However, going by the recent buzz looks like ‘Don 3’ might never happen now. Yes, you read that right. So if these reports are anything to go by then Farhan will be ending his ‘Don’ series with just two part.

For quite some time we came across reports of several other actors like Ranveer Singh and Ranbir Kapoor taking over the baton from Shah Rukh. However, looks like all these rumours will now come to an end.

A latest report in Asian Age quoted an industry source as saying, “These stories about this and the other actors taking over the Don baton are so out of line. Farhan Akhtar (also the director of the Don series) has no script, not even an idea for a plot to do another film. He’s busy with his acting and music career. It looks like the Don series is dead.”

Farhan’s last directorial was ‘Don 2′(2011), post that he has not directed any projects in the last nine years.

A filmmaker and a close friend of Farhan told the daily that he doesn’t see any inclination in him to direct a film anytime soon. Right now Farhan is busy prepping for the role of his lifetime as a boxer in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s ‘Toofan’. That will keep him busy this year and most of 2020. Before that, he has just completed another acting role in Shonali Bose’s ‘The Sky Is Pink’. Where do you see direction fitting into his schedule?”

While neither Farhan nor Shah Rukh has opened about ‘Don 3’ however going by the reports looks like they won’t be working on this project anytime soon.

Meanwhile, post ‘Zero’s debacle Shah Rukh is yet to announce his next film.
