Ayushmann Khurrana, Sharvari Wagh To Star In Sooraj Barjatya’s Next Family Drama – Deets Inside

Bollywood is getting a new Prem! Ayushmann Khurrana has been confirmed to play the iconic character name in Sooraj Barjatya’s upcoming family drama. Known for creating memorable characters named Prem in hit films like Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Koun, and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Barjatya is now bringing a fresh face to the role.

Ayushmann Khurrana To Play Prem In Sooraj Barjatya’s Next

Sooraj Barjatya revealed that Ayushmann will lead his next film, which is set in Mumbai. The film will also star Sharvari. Speaking about Ayushmann the filmmaker told PTI, “He is a dedicated and fine actor. It’s all about finding the right story, making it feel real, and choosing the right cast.”

Barjatya also mentioned that, like his previous films, this one will feature a large ensemble cast. “Besides them, we have more people in the cast, like we always do,” he added.

As the film heads into production, Barjatya admitted feeling nervous. “I’ve always felt nervous before starting a film, even back when I made Maine Pyar Kiya. For me, it’s not just about box office numbers—what matters is whether the story connects with the audience.”

Sooraj Barjatya is known for directing some of the biggest family films in Bollywood. He started his career as an assistant to Mahesh Bhatt and made his debut as a director in 1989 with Maine Pyar Kiya, starring Salman Khan and Bhagyashree. The film was a huge hit and established him as a top filmmaker. His 1994 film Hum Aapke Hain Koun became one of the highest-grossing Indian films at the time.
