Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om is not just one of the best films the filmmaker made but also a flick loved by millions of Hindi film lovers. While the film is loved for many reasons – such as the plotline, launching Deepika Padukone into Bollywood, its comic timing and more, the track Deewangi Deewangi is its biggest highlight. While Farah has often spoken about how she managed to get some of the industries’ biggest actors on board, she has finally revealed how she cast the actresses in the song.
Farah recently visited designer Manish Malhotra’s house for her vlog and it was here that she spilled the beans on how the designer helped he actresses come on board for the song. Scroll below to read all they shared.
Farah Khan: “I Enticed The Actresses With Manish Malhotra’s Costumes”
Talking about how instrumental Manish Malhotra was in bringing the many actresses on board for Deewangi Deewangi, Farah Khan said, “In Om Shanti Om, Manish had designed all of Deepika’s costumes. I knew that if we needed a look from the 70s, he and I were the experts.”
To this, Manish added, “When I saw Naseeb starring Amitabh Bachchan, the song ‘John Jaani Janardhan’ had many stars coming in. I was a diehard fan, and when I saw that movie in the theatre, I wondered if I would ever have the chance to meet so many actors together at a party. Ironically, ‘Deewangi Deewangi’ gave me that.”
In response, Farah Khan added, “Deewangi Deewangi was inspired by there only. Manish was not only a part of the song, but he also came with me to meet every heroine who was in that song. I had enticed the actresses who featured in the song that Manish would make their costumes, and they could keep them after the shoot.”
