Farhan Akhtar entered the Hindi film industry as a director with Dil Chahta Hai. And as everyone was loving his craft behind the lens, he surprised everyone by coming in front of the camera as well. Starting with his acting debut Rock On, Farhan proved that he is a man of many talents. But it was athlete Milkha Singh’s biopic Bhaag Milkha Bhaag that took him to another level.

Farhan Akhtar pens a note on 10 years of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag

July 12, 2023 marks 10 years of the Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra directed biopic that chronicled the life of the Indian athlete and Olympian Milkha Singh. To mark the occasion, Farhan penned an emotional note. He shared how special the film is to him and thanked fans for their love. He credited them for making the film worthwhile.

He wrote, “It’s been 10 years since the release of a film that has meant a lot in my career and in my life. The fact that it also holds a dear place in your hearts is the cherry on top. Your love gave justification to the effort and sacrifices. Thank you from the bottom of my heart again.. and to Rakeysh for making me a part of celebrating the legendary Milkhaji (sic)”.

Sonam Kapoor shares a BTS video compilation from BMB

The leading lady of the film Sonam Kapoor also celebrated the milestone in her own way. She shared a video compilation consisting of BTS footage from the shoot as well as some of her glimpses from the film. Interestingly, the actress had taken only Rs 11 as her fees for the film at that time.

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag proved to be a turning point for Farhan. The actor was a clear favourite at the award season the following year of its release. He bagged almost all the awards in the Best Actor category. The film also featured Divya Dutta and Pavan Malhotra alongside Farhan and Sonam.

On the work front, Farhan is reportedly set to get back to acting with Aamir Khan’s Campeones remake. He is reportedly also going to be on the director’s chair for Ranveer Singh led Don 3. He was to direct Jee Le Zaraa with Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt. However, recent reports suggest that Priyanka has pulled out of the film and it is indefinitely postponed for now.
