Karan Johar reveals why Takht took a backseat and how eventually RRKPK happened

Remember the mega-budget film Takht that boats an ultimate casting coup? Though the movie showed no development right after the announcement, filmmaker Karan Johar revealed why it was kept on hold. During the success of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani press con, Karan Johar revealed why Takht didn’t materialise and it is because of the pandemic. Given the fact the movie was a big-budget movie, Takht was not feasible to make it during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking about the same, KJo said, “This whole week has been like a fuzzy feeling in my heart. Whenever I think about it, I get tears in my eyes I can’t believe I’m receiving this kind of love. The beginning of this film is about the two telephonic conversations that I had. As you guys know that we were making Takht and then the pandemic happened and we had to keep it momentarily aside because it was a huge film. And making a film of that stature during the pandemic was not possible.“

Karan Johar reveals how RRKPK happened

Karan said, “So, for two months during the lockdown, I wrote the skeleton of the story. But then it was brought together by the brilliance of Shashank Khaitan, Ishita Mohitran, Sumit Roy and Shoumen Mishra who governed them all together like a true rockstar. They wrote the film adjourned and I had telephonic chats with Rocky and Rani that is Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. And I said ‘Look I don’t have much of a story but I have a tiny germ. So, are you guys on the field?’ Literally, that’s all it took, we are on, we are doing this film. It was that simple, it was that easy. Alia is Dharma’s kid but a professional relationship was building up with Ranveer Singh for the first time. I will always be grateful to them. For actually coming on board for this film with pure conviction.”

Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani has gained immense love and appreciation from movie buffs. That’s not it, Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer is also performing great at the box office. RRKPK is inching closer to the 70 crore club.
