Padmavati in Rajasthan

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’ is one of the most controversial films of the year. During the shooting of the film, the director was slapped in Jaipur, and then later the sets were vandalised in Kolhapur, and the protest against the film has been going on and on.

There were reports that the film is already banned in Rajasthan, but here’s a good news. The movie won’t be banned in the state and the Rajasthan Home Minister, Gulab Chand Kataria, told ANI, “Until a committee doesn’t look into that fact that if there is actually something that differs from historical facts, can’t comment. Apart from that, no one should take law & order into their hands.”

On their Twitter handle, News 18, also tweeted another statement of the Home Minister, “Film will not be banned. But sentiments of communities will also be taken care of. Will talk to Sanjay Leela Bhansali.”

While the movie is facing a lot of protests, Diya Kumari who hails from a royal family and an MLA is against the film’s release. She was recently on a news channel for a debate against the release of ‘Padmavati’. She later tweeted, “Was on @ndtv debate, they had biased JNU historian on it. I will not allow whitewash of history and glorification of barbarian Khilji. The honour of Rani #Padmavati & women of Rajasthan is supreme and no attempt to tarnish it will be allowed.”

Not just this, a few days ago, she had spoken about the movie at a press conference held in Rajasthan and had stated that till the objectionable scenes won’t be removed they won’t allow the film to release.

The makers of ‘Padmavati’ have cleared several times that there are no scenes between Rani Padmavati and Sultan Alauddin Khilji, still, the protests against the film don’t seem to stop. What we can’t understand that how without watching a movie can someone come to a conclusion about history being distorted.
