The heritage of Bollywood’s Khanna family and late superstar Rajesh Khanna’s adobe, ‘Aashirwad’, which was sold to a city industrialist, Shashi Kiran Shetty, after the actor’s demise, will now be a thing of the past, as Shetty has decided to demolish it. The sea-facing bungalow will now be replaced by a building.

The iconic house situated at the Carter Road, Bandra, was also a major tourist attraction for Rajesh Khanna’s fans, but seeing it blow up in front of our eyes will sure be disheartening for everyone.

Speaking to Pinkvilla, Shetty said, “The structure was almost 50 years old. We plan to have a new bungalow over there. Currently, it is a very rough plan but we have submitted it to the BMC.”

Aashirwad was bought by Khanna from actor Rajendra Kumar for Rs 3.5 lakhs in 1970.
