Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali always manages to grab headlines with his choice of films. The director has always faced legal troubles whenever he makes a new film. This time Bhansali is facing trouble for his upcoming film ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’. The film is based on the life of a brothel owner of the same name which will be played by Alia Bhatt.

According to the latest reports, Gangubai’s son Babuji Rawji Shah has filed a case against Bhansali, Alia Bhatt and others. Read on to know the details.

The film is based on the book ‘The Mafia Queens of Mumbai’, written by Hussain Zaidi based on the research of reporter Jane Borges. Now according to a report in The Print, Gangubai’s son Babuji has also named Bhansali Productions, writer Hussain and reporter Jane in his complaint. He has cited that the second part of the book is defamatory in nature and an infringement upon his right to privacy, self-respect and liberty.

The report further said that the case was filed on Sunday and its first hearing took place on Tuesday. The defendants have been given time till January 7 to respond.

Babuji has sought a permanent order restraining printing and circulation of the book, He also wants some specific chapters in the book to be deleted and the production of the film to be stalled.

Reportedly ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ also stars Emraan Hashmi and Parth Samthaan in a pivotal role.
