Shah Rukh Khan in Fan

Shah Rukh Khan’s film ‘Fan’ managed to provide double dose of entertainment to all his fans with King Khan in a double role. But one ‘Jabra fan’ of his was utterly disappointed. So much so that she moved to the court for mental harassment.

A fan named Afreen Zaidi from Aurangabad watched the movie first day first show that released in 2016 with the hope that the song ‘Jabra Fan’ would be a part of the film. But her hopes were shattered when the song was not showcased in the theatres. She and many others who flocked the theatres didn’t know that ‘Jabra Fan’ was only a promotional song and was not supposed to be a part of the film. With this, she felt cheated and hence, moved to the Aurangabad consumer court asking for compensation from Yash Raj productions, star Shah Rukh Khan and the director Maneesh Sharma.

As per reports in AajTak, Afreen asked for approximately Rs 65,000 compensation from the makers. The amount includes the cost that she incurred spending on movie tickets, snacks, travel, a certain amount for mental harassment and also for her lawyer’s fees.

The Aurangabad circuit bench of the Maharashtra State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (SCDRC), Mumbai has now ordered the production house to compensate Afreen with Rs 15,000. The division bench comprising presiding judicial member SM Shembole and KB Gawali ruled that, “We are of the view that… the act of not showing the said title song ‘jabra fan’ in the movie, though the same was widely played for promoting the said movie, amounts to unfair trade practice. We, therefore, conclude that the opponent, i.e, respondent number 2 (Aditya Chopra) has committed not only deficiency in service but also unfair trade practice” as reported by TOI.

YRF has been asked to pay this money within 60 days of time. (Also Read: WOW! Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in Karan Johar’s next?)
