Taapsee Pannu Kangana Ranaut

Taapsee Pannu has made a name for herself in the entertainment world with hard-hitting performances in films such as Naam Shabana, Pink, Mission Mangal, Saand Ki Aankh, Thappad and more. As the actress’ latest release – Assi impresses audiences in theatres, Taapsee recently got candid about her supposed ‘fight’ with Kangana Ranaut and whether the two will ever be friends. Scroll below to read all she said.

Taapsee Pannu Opens Up About Her ‘Fight’ With Kangana Ranaut

While on Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast recently, Taapsee Pannu was asked about her ‘fight’ with Kangana Ranaut. Talking about ‘feud’, the ‘Assi’ actress said, “I don’t know when I ever fought. A fight happens when two people clash. I never clashed. You tell me — have I ever said even a single line against her? Her sister called me a ‘cheap copy.’ She said that since I don’t earn as much money here, that makes me cheap. If she is such a brilliant actress, I have no problem being called her copy. You can take out any statement of mine — I haven’t said anything against her.”

For those who don’t know, several years ago, Kangana’s sister, Rangoli Chandel, had infamously referred to Taapsee as a ‘cheap copy’ of Kangana. This statement led many to believe that the equation between the artists had soured. For the unversed, both Kangana and Taapsee hail from outside the film industry and made a name for themselves in the industry without help from any godfathers.

When asked if her and Kangana’s so-called fight benefited any star kids – as they preferred two outsiders fighting, Taapsee Pannu answered, “I don’t know about them, but someone or the other must have benefited in some way. Like I said, from my side, there was never any fight. But I do feel that someone must have gained from it.”

Taapsee Pannu On Becoming Friends With Kangana Ranaut

When asked if she would be open to a friendship with Kangana, Taapsee replied, “Absolutely. I’ve always said that if I ever see her around, I will definitely go up to her… technically, she is my senior. Why wouldn’t I go up to her and respectfully say hello? What her response would be, I can’t guarantee. I can only guarantee my own behaviour. Honestly, I don’t have anything in my heart against her.”

Both Actresses’ Upcoming Films

Taapsee’s courtroom drama Assi – directed by Anubhav Sinha, released in theatres on Friday, February 20. Her upcoming projects include Woh Ladki Hai Kahaan? and Gandhari.

On the other hand, Kangana’s last release was the 2025 political thriller Emergency, in which she essayed the role of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The actor-turned-politician will next be seen in Bharatha Bhhagya Vidhata. The political thriller is set to release later this year.
