The Kerala Story 2: Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s Social Drama Teaser To Be REMOVED? Makers Call Rumours False, Baseless

Since the release of its teaser, The Kerala Story 2 has been met with considerable backlash, prompting a legal petition claiming that its release could disturb communal harmony. In response, the filmmakers have clarified that they have no plans to remove the teaser from social media platforms.

On Tuesday, Sunshine Pictures issued an official statement dismissing these reports as “false and baseless.” The statement read, “Sunshine Pictures would like to categorically clarify that the news circulating about the removal of ‘The Kerala Story 2 – Goes Beyond’ teaser is completely false, baseless, and misleading. The matter is currently sub judice. No court order or judgment has directed the removal of any content. We have not deleted or taken down any material.”

The company emphasised that both the teaser and trailer for The Kerala Story 2 – Goes Beyond remain available across all their official channels. They urged media outlets, digital platforms, and individuals to refrain from spreading unverified information, as such rumours only lead to unnecessary confusion.

What Is The Kerala Story 2 Controversy?

For context, the film has faced protests and legal challenges since its teaser was released, with a PIL filed against it, alleging that its release could threaten communal harmony. While the case remains in court, producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah recently addressed the controversy.

“We’re not targeting Kerala. Kerala is a beautiful state… We want to see this evil eradicated from there as soon as possible,” Shah stated. He also addressed criticism of the first film. Vipul said, “Some people questioned the figure of 32,000 in the film. We made a video on this statistic on YouTube, showing the source and figures. The government should have even more data, but we haven’t seen any strict action taken since the film’s release.”

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has also publicly condemned the movie. Despite the controversy, The Kerala Story 2 is scheduled to release in theatres on February 27, 2026.
