Vijay Varma, one of Bollywood’s most talented and versatile actors, has won hearts with his powerful performances in Darlings, Mirzapur, and IC814. However, behind his success, Vijay went through a difficult personal phase. In a recent chat with Rhea Chakraborty on her podcast, the actor opened up about battling severe depression and anxiety and revealed how Aamir Khan’s daughter, Ira Khan, played a key role in helping him heal.
Vijay Varma On His Depressing Phase Of Life
Vijay shared that there was a time when he lived alone in an apartment in Mumbai, feeling isolated and emotionally drained. “I had a small terrace where I could see the sky, or else I would’ve gone mad. I felt very lonely and scared, wondering why I couldn’t even move from my couch for four days,” he said, describing his lowest moments.
During that time, Ira Khan and actor Gulshan Devaiah became his support system. The trio had grown close while working on Dahaad, and they often stayed connected through video calls and virtual dinners. But even with friends around, Vijay’s mental health kept declining. “Ira was the first to notice and told me, ‘Vijay, I think you need to start moving a little bit,’” he recalled. “She made me do Zoom workouts and encouraged me to take care of myself.”
Eventually, Vijay sought professional help and began therapy sessions online. He was diagnosed with depression and anxiety, and although medication was suggested, he decided to try managing it with yoga, therapy, and support from loved ones.
On the professional front, Vijay Varma will next be seen in Gustaakh Ishq, set to release on November 28. He was last seen in Murder Mubarak alongside Sara Ali Khan and Karisma Kapoor. His honesty about mental health has inspired many to seek help and speak openly about their struggles.
