‘Zero’ makers issue statement after receiving complaint for hurting Sikh sentiments

‘Zero’ is a film, which is in news for one reason or the other. The Shah Rukh Khan starrer film’s trailer got a brilliant response and everyone is eagerly awaiting the release. But, in a country like India, somebody’s religious sentiments will get hurt inadvertently. Now, the makers of ‘Zero‘ have issued a clarification regarding the complaint they received for hurting Sikh sentiments.

As per the report in PinkVilla, The statement reads, “The concern is duly noted and we wish to respectfully clarify that the film does not depict a Kirpan but in fact has used what is commonly known as a Katar. The filmmakers have been careful not to hurt the feelings of any community including the Sikh community.”

The statement further reads, ‘The film is about celebrating incompleteness and to tell a heartfelt story. We trust you (MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa) will appreciate our stand that any concern this may have caused is completely inadvertent.” Read the complete statement below:

The whole controversy had erupted when the poster of the film which featured Shah Rukh on Facebook, Delhi MLA Manjinder S Sirsa took to Facebook and wrote a post demanding apology for hurting Sikh sentiments.

The film also stars Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma. It is slated to hit screens on December 21, 2018. Bollywood as an industry is a soft target and many films in the past have faced this issue. Let’s hope makers and aggrieved party sort out their issues and film gets a scheduled release.
