Judwaa 2

David Dhawan’s comic-caper ‘Judwaa 2’ has had a great beginning at the box office. The movie minted Rs 15.50 crore nett on its first day, registering the fourth highest opening day numbers after ‘Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion’, ‘Tubelight’ and ‘Raees’. While in certain areas, the long weekend owing to the festive season of Dussehra, has affected positively, it has had a negative impact as well, in few places. The movie hasn’t done that well in South, which probably may be due to the release of the South movie ‘Spyder’. However, in its entirety, the movie has done a really good business on its opening day, especially for a Varun Dhawan solo-hero project. It has even crossed the opening day business of his previous movie ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ which had fetched Rs 11.69 crore nett.

The best collections have come from Delhi/UP and East India too has been a huge boost for the movie. The holidays for Durga Puja have also boosted the business in West Bengal. The entertainment factor has worked very well for the movie plus the fact that there was no clash from another big Bollywood flick. Now, the movie will get a further boost due to an extended weekend until Monday which is a Gandhi Jayanti holiday. (Also Read: Judwaa 2 movie review: A regular spun-sugar film with flawed comedy)

The movie has raced ahead of Shah Rukh Khan-starrer ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ and stands at the fourth position for this year. And in terms of lifetime opening day business it stands at 28th position beating the business of movies like ‘Goliyon Ki Raas Leela – Ram Leela’, ‘Housefull 2’, ‘Race 2’ and ‘Gunday’.
