EXCLUSIVE: Jason Shah Reflects On Playing Bobby Deol’s Right-Hand Man In Jana Nayagan; Says, “He Doesn’t Carry The Weight Of His Legacy…”

Actor Jason Shah is all set to be seen in an intense role in Jana Nayagan, where he plays the right-hand man to Bobby Deol’s character. Opening up about his preparation and experience on the film, Jason shared how he approached the role with honesty and openness, allowing the character to grow naturally.

Jason Shah Calls Working With Bobby Deol A ‘Masterclass’

In a conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Jason spoke about his simple yet effective preparation process. “My preparation process is quite simple; I listen deeply and arrive without preconceived notions. I see myself as clay and allow the director to be the potter. I try to stay vulnerable and open, letting the character take shape organically through the script and the director’s vision,” he said. According to him, this approach helps him stay connected to the story and deliver a more genuine performance.

Talking about sharing screen space with Bobby Deol, Jason had nothing but praise for the senior actor. He described the experience as meaningful and full of learning. “Working with Bobby sir was incredibly meaningful and full of learning. Often, stars of his stature tend to stay within their own circles, but Bobby is refreshingly different,” Jason shared.

He further recalled a special moment from their first interaction. “Before I could even introduce myself properly, he spoke about my previous work in Heeramandi and told me how much he enjoyed my performance. That genuinely surprised and moved me,” Jason said.

Jason also spoke about Bobby Deol’s dedication to his craft. He admired how Bobby carries himself on set without the burden of his legacy. “Watching him perform is a masterclass in itself. He doesn’t carry the weight of his legacy into the room. Instead, he approaches every role with the hunger of someone who wants to prove himself again and again, and that mindset is truly inspiring,” he added.

With Jana Nayagan, Jason Shah looks forward to presenting a strong and impactful performance alongside Bobby Deol in what promises to be an intense and gripping film. The political action thriller film is directed by H. Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions.

The film stars Vijay, Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol in the lead roles, a longside Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain and Priyamani. Jana Nayagan is scheduled to be released on 9 January 2026 in theatres, coinciding with Pongal.
