EXCLUSIVE: Richa Chadha REVEALS how Ali Fazal and she kept their wedding a secret for 2.5 years

Actors Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal have been dating each other for a very long time. The two met on the sets of Fukrey and the rest is history now. However, the two left the internet surprised when they announced their wedding by sharing their first pictures on Instagram. They looked royal and dreamy. However, not many knew Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal actually got married 2.5 years before they officially announced their wedding. During a fun conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Richa Chadha was asked why the marriage was a secret.

Why Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal marriage was a secret?

When Richa was asked if it was thrilling to keep it a secret from people, she said, “No, not really. First of all, we got married in the Special Marriage Act so in that, they display your name for a month. I think it’s an absurd rule to see because India is known for things like marriage-related problems like honour killing and whatever. And it gets issued publically and that’s the procedure of the special marriage act. So, it just happened to be secret and it was during COVID-19 where no one was going to the family court. And we thankfully got lucky because all these happen in the public domain and you can’t stop it actually.“

What is the Special Marriage Act?

It is an Act of the Parliament of India with provision for civil marriage to provide a special form of marriage in certain cases. It is said any person of any religion can register themselves in the act but mostly Inter-religious marriages are performed under this Act.

When asked how’s marriage life had been, the Masaan actor said, “Very nice, it’s lovely. We live together. Today, the house was a bit of a mess because he had promotions for his film and I had promotions for my film. We both getting ready. So he was like, ‘Okay, this mirror has a light, so are you using that’. We were sharing space which is interesting.“

Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal had an intimate wedding on October 6, 2022.
