Reportedly, the veteran singer passed away at Mumbai’s CritiCare Hospital due to Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Bappi had said to TOI about Lata Mangeshkar, “I was 4 when in the Eden Garden locality of Kolkata where we lived, Lataji came home and blessed me. I still have a picture of me sitting in her lap. She sang many Bangla songs for my father (Aparesh Lahiri) who was a well-known composer in Kolkata. From then on she has supported me. She sang my first composition in a Bengali film Daadu. If she hadn’t sung for me, I’d have been swept away by the competition.”

Apart from making everyone groove with his songs, the late veteran singer-composer had also made his mark as an actor in a 1974 film Badhti Ka Naam Dadhi. Sharing a candid picture in 2021, Bappi Lahiri had shared a still from his debut Bollywood film that also featured Kishore Kumar. He wrote, “A Film that I debuted as an actor..
