Karan Johar

The year 2016 brought a lot of acclaim to filmmaker Karan Johar as his directorial venture ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ impressed one and all, but at the same time it proved to be a nightmare for him as his film got entangled in the biggest controversy of the year. All thanks to Pakistani actor Fawad Khan’s presence in ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’, Karan Johar had to face a lot of problems, to an extend where his film was on the verge of getting banned. This whole controversy has left a lasting impact on the director who now is kind of scared to share his opinion with the masses.

The director, who is known for wearing his thoughts on his sleeves, further said, “I’m a liberal. In a headspace, that is extremely progressive about many things. But I just feel like I can’t say anything. I feel like I’ve joined the herd mentality of the silent society.”

Accompanying him at this Roundtable were the directors Ali Abbas Zafar, Nitesh Tiwari, Ram Madhvani and more.
