Renowned as one of the most acclaimed voices of her era, she not only lived in the shadow of her sister Lata Mangeshkar’s immense legacy but also carved out her own unique space in Hindi playback singing with her genre-defying voice. Her last public appearance was on March 5, when she attended the wedding of Sachin Tendulkar’s son, Arjun Tendulkar.
Asha Bhosle Made Her Last Public Appearance At Arjun Tendulkar’s Wedding
Asha was there to bless the newlyweds, Arjun and his wife, Saaniya Chandhok. Several Instagram pages shared pictures and videos of her arriving at the star-studded Mumbai ceremony on March 5, 2026, held at The St. Regis Mumbai. Dressed gracefully in a white saree, she briefly posed for photos near the entrance. She smiled, offered a namaste to the photographers, and expressed her gratitude. She was then seen walking toward the venue, accompanied by family members who touched her feet to seek her blessings.
Asha Bhosle Passes Away
Asha Bhosle was hospitalised at Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital on Saturday after experiencing cardiac and respiratory issues. Sources told HT that her condition was critical, and she was being closely monitored in the ICU. On Sunday morning, her son Anand Bhosle confirmed her passing. Her family announced that her last rites would be performed at 4 pm on Monday.
About Asha Ji’s Career
As one of India’s most successful and prolific singers, Asha Bhosle was born in 1933 into the illustrious Mangeshkar family. She began her singing career at the age of nine. Over six decades, Asha showcased extraordinary versatility across Bollywood, ghazals, and regional music. Some of her most iconic songs include Dum Maro Dum, Piya Tu Ab To Aaja, Aao Na Gale Lag Jao Na, and In Aankhon Ki Masti Ke.
She won the Filmfare Best Female Playback Singer Award seven times and received the National Film Award twice—for Dil Cheez Kya Hai from Umrao Jaan and Mera Kuch Saamaan from Ijaazat. She was also honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award and received the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian honour, in 2008.
