The beloved Drishyam franchise is all set to make a grand return with its third instalment. Director Jeethu Joseph shared the upcoming release plans during a private event in Kochi, reflecting on the enduring impact of the series on both audiences and himself.
Drishyam 3 Director Confirms Mohanlal Starrer Release Date
During the event, Jeethu Joseph stated, “Drishyam is a film that has influenced many people. I still feel its impact. Without setting too many expectations, I suggest you watch the movie in the first week of April in theatres. The official release date will be announced soon. In the meantime, another film, Valathuvashathe Kallan, will be released on January 30. I am confident it will be a good movie.”
The Malayalam version of Drishyam, centred around Georgekutty’s relentless efforts to protect his family after a desperate crime, has received critical acclaim and achieved massive box office success with its previous instalments.
Drishyam 3 Release Plans And Adaptations
While the Malayalam Drishyam 3 is scheduled for release in April, the Hindi adaptation is set to hit theatres in October. The Hindi version, produced by Panorama Studios, will be directed by Abhishek Pathak, who also helmed Drishyam 2 starring Ajay Devgn and Tabu. However, recent reports have indicated that Akshaye Khanna has opted out of the project. Producer Kumar Mangat Pathak told The Times of India that Khanna exited the film just a day before the release of Dhurandhar, and that the decision was not solely financial.
In an interview with NDTV, Pathak explained that Akshaye’s fee had been renegotiated three times and clarified that money was not the main reason for his departure. He revealed that disagreements over the hairstyle of Khanna’s character, IG Tarun Ahlawat, contributed to the fallout, and that the production was forced to initiate legal proceedings after the actor stopped responding to calls.
Despite the controversy, Jaideep Ahlawat has been signed for a role in the film, though an official announcement is still awaited. The Hindi adaptation of Drishyam 3 is scheduled for a theatrical release on October 2, 2026.
