Rana Daggubati Fails To Appear Before ED

Actor Rana Daggubati has been given a new date—August 11—to appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a money laundering case linked to illegal online betting and gambling platforms. He was earlier asked to appear on July 23 but requested more time, according to sources.

Rana Daggubati And Other Stars Summoned By ED

The ED is currently investigating several celebrities for allegedly promoting online betting apps involved in generating illegal money. Besides Daggubati, other actors summoned include Prakash Raj, who has been asked to appear on July 30, Vijay Deverakonda on August 6, and Lakshmi Manchu on August 13.

In total, 28 people—including actors, influencers, and company officials—are under the ED’s scanner. These individuals are being questioned for endorsing or promoting apps like Junglee Rummy, JeetWin, and Lotus365, which are suspected to have been used for illegal gambling activities worth crores of rupees.

Once they appear, the actors’ statements will be recorded under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The ED has based its investigation on five FIRs registered earlier by the Telangana Police.

According to sources, some of the celebrities have claimed they were unaware of the illegal activities behind the apps and were only paid for regular brand endorsements. However, the ED suspects that these promotions helped the apps earn illegal funds under the guise of online games or betting.

The investigation is ongoing, and more names could be called in the coming days. For now, the focus is on questioning the celebrities who have already been linked to the case.
