Filmmaker Shonali Bose has finally found the protagonist of her next film in ‘Dangal’ actress Zaira Wasim. The director’s next film is based on the real-life story of Aisha Chaudhary, a girl who suffered from an immune deficiency disorder.

According to a report in Mumbai Mirror in the film, Zaira Wasim will be playing Aisha Chaudhary while Priyanka Chopra and Abhishek Bachchan will be playing her parents. (Also read: Zaira Wasim gets candid about her struggle with depression)

A source close to the development told Mirror, “Zaira really liked the script and has given her nod to the project. Shonali is currently busy with the pre-production and is hoping to start shooting by the middle of this year in Mumbai. Priyanka and Abhishek will play parents to Zaira’s character.”

Aisha Chaudhary was born with an immune deficiency disorder and at the age of 13, she was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. Apart from being a motivational speaker, Aisha has a book ‘My Little Epiphanies’ to her credit. Aisha was named an INK Fellow following her speeches in the 2011 and 2013 INK Conferences and was also a speaker at TEDx Pune in 2013. She eventually passed away at the age of 18 on January 24, 2015.

However, with no official announcements made yet, we will have to wait and watch if Zaira will be teaming with Shonali Bose or not. Till then watch this space for more.
