Deepika PAdukone

Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor-starrer ‘Padmavati’ has been in the trouble since the beginning. We remember the episode when Sanjay Leela Bhansali (the director) was slapped and the sets were vandalised by the leaders of Karni Sena who were against this film. Post the trailer launch, the makers have received threats from Jai Rajputana Sangh claiming to bring a halt to the film’s release.

Following this, an artiste from Surat, who had created a beautiful rangoli of the ‘Padmavati’ poster, shared a heartbreaking news that his work of art, which took him 48 hours to craft, was destroyed  by the self-proclaimed governors of Rajput honour. Deepika then took to Twitter to condemn this episode and tweeted it to Smriti Irani that action must be taken in this case. We have now learnt that five people have been arrested from Gujarat for vandalising this rangoli.  A report on Scroll.in quoted Surat Commissioner of Police Satish Sharma as saying, “More arrests are likely to be made as the video footage recovered by us shows eight to 10 persons involved in the activity.”

“I also want to make it clear that the police will deal with strictness against any such action. Freedom of expression is everyone’s right in a democracy, but vandalism will not be allowed,” he added further.

We await reaction from the makers on the same.
