In a recent conversation with Bollywood Bubble for Her Story 3, Taapsee Pannu opened up about the gender parity in the film industry, revealing a shocking incident where her lines were altered just to fulfil the hero’s wishes.

Opening up about the same, the actress recalled, “There was this one incident that I have mentioned a couple of times that happened when I was dubbing for one of my films in South. I was asked to say a line which I didn’t say (in the real scene). I am supposed to dub what I said, right? But I was asked to change that line because the hero didn’t want me to say what I said, he wanted me to say a different line.”

She reveals that she questioned that decision as she didn’t want to be dishonest to her work. I was like, why should I change? The hero was there when I said that line, why does he want me to change now? It was because ‘Hero sir’ has asked me to dub something else, I should change a shot which is this close a shot and dub something else which doesn’t match my lip sync, so I refused to do that. I told them to leave it blank, keep it muted if they want, but I will not dub something wrong. Later on when I saw the film, they had called a dubbing artist specially to just dub that line into what the hero sir wanted,” she shared.

When asked if she raised an issue with what happened after she saw the film, she answered in the affirmative, but asserted that it didn’t fetch any result. She said, I did ask but this is what hero wanted, end of story.”

Taapsee has always been vocal about the positioning that the actresses deserve to have in the industry and has paved a way for herself that is aspirational and inspiring for many women out here. She also insisted that after that incident she promised herself that if she ever will be in a commanding position, she will never do anything like that to anyone, irrespective of their gender or part in the film.
