Partition 1947 banned pakistan

Gurinder Chadha’s ‘Partition: 1947’, starring Hugh Bonneville, Gillian Anderson, Manish Dayal and Huma Qureshi has been getting great reviews in India. However, as the film is based on the sensitive issue of partition, it has been banned in Pakistan, and this has surely made the director sad.

Gurinder Chadha tweeted, “It is unfortunate my film has been banned in Pakistan.it will always be the land of my ancestors. #Partition1947 @humasqureshi @RelianceEnt.”

Recently, while talking about how she prepared for her role in ‘Partition: 1947’, Huma said, “Well, Gurinder (the director) did a lot of research. So I always follow what my director tells me, it is always better. I am director’s actor. But khud se I watched a lot of YouTube videos of old leaders and how they spoke English. Because my character Aalia, she is an interpreter for Mountbattens. So the way she speaks English has to be very colloquial, very colonial. Bada tareeke se baat karte the. So I had to pick up that way of talking. For that, I saw a lot of videos of Vijaya Laxmi Pandit and a lot of other leaders from that time.”

The actress also revealed that how she got the movie. She said, “I didn’t go looking for an international project or a Hollywood film. Gurinder Chadha was making a film about the partition. She wanted an Indian actor. Her casting director sent me the script and asked me to read it and also send an audition tape.”
