Karan Johar clarifies he is NOT making Dhadak 2

It was recently reported that Karan Johar is making Dhadak 2. Karan Johar has now clarified that there is no truth in the reports.

Janhvi Kapoor made her Bollywood debut with Shashank Khaitan’s Dhadak. Janhvi was starred opposite Ishaan Khatter in the same. Dhadak was produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. On Monday, Pinkvilla reported that Karan Johar will be making the sequel of Dhadak which stars Siddhant Chaturvedi and Tripti Dimri in the lead roles. A day after the report made headlines, Karan Johar has now revealed the truth. The filmmaker has clarified that he is not making ‘Dhadak 2’.

Karan Johar opens up on Dhadak 2…

Karan took to his Instagram Stories and set the record straight saying, “To put this on record and for all concerned we (Dharma Productions) are NOT making a film with the title DHADAK 2 as is being reported in various articles…”

For the uninitiated, Pinkvilla had earlier quoted a source saying, “Dhadak was essentially an intense tale of love, with two protagonists fighting the society to live together. The filmmaker believes that this zone of going against all odds for love has potential to get a franchise value. After contemplating on several subjects, the filmmaker has greenlit a subject that qualifies to be a sequel to Dhadak.”

The report further added that the sequel will be directed by Shazia Iqbal. The source added, “The film will be directed by Shazia Iqbal and marks her debut as a director. Both Siddhant and Tripti are excited to feature in a raw and intense love story. The prep work will begin soon.”

On the work front, Karan will be returning back to the director’s chair with his upcoming project Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani stars Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh in the lead roles. Alia and Ranveer earlier won hearts with their chemistry in Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy. Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani also stars Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Shabana Azmi. The Karan Johar directorial is slated to release on 28^th July, 2023.
