Nick Jonas Reveals Daughter Malti Marie Undergoing 6 Blood Transfusions Due To Premature Birth; Says, “Priyanka And I Did 12 Hour Hospital Shifts For 3.5 Months”

Nick Jonas recently opened up about the emotional journey he and Priyanka Chopra experienced following the birth of their daughter, Malti Marie Chopra Jonas. In a heartfelt conversation with Jay Shetty on his podcast, Nick revealed for the first time the challenging circumstances surrounding Malti’s birth. The singer became emotional as he recounted how fragile and underweight their daughter was at birth. “We weren’t expecting her to arrive so early,” Nick shared.

He explained how the NICU nurses worked tirelessly to resuscitate and care for her.“We got a call that it would be sooner than planned. We reached the hospital and saw her weighing just 1 pound 11 ounces, purple and very delicate.”

Nick also shared that he and Priyanka each worked 12-hour shifts at the hospital during her 3.5-month stay, which was especially challenging amid the COVID-19 pandemic. “It was both comforting and frightening,” he said. He described how Malti fought every day to survive, gradually gaining strength after six blood transfusions, until they were finally able to bring her home.

Nick and Priyanka, who tied the knot in 2018 in a grand celebration blending Christian and Hindu traditions, welcomed Malti through surrogacy in January 2022. On the professional front, Nick is set to star alongside Paul Rudd in Power Ballad, directed by John Carney, which is scheduled for release on June 5. Meanwhile, Priyanka is preparing for her return to Indian cinema with SS Rajamouli’s next project, Varanasi, featuring Mahesh Babu. She has already shot pivotal scenes in Odisha, Hyderabad, and other locations across India.
