Raajneeti 2 Is Happening! Director Prakash Jha Confirms Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif-Led Political Thriller Sequel As OG Turns 15

Director Prakash Jha has confirmed that he is currently working on ‘Raajneeti 2’. He mentioned that the casting process is in progress. Recently, filmmaker Prakash Jha announced that his popular film ‘Raajneeti’ has been renewed for a sequel. The film, which celebrated its 15th anniversary on June 4, was considered a modern adaptation of the Mahabharata, featuring stars like Ranbir Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, Arjun Rampal, Manoj Bajpayee, Nana Patekar, and Naseeruddin Shah, among others.

On this special occasion, the director told Hindustan Times that the second instalment is already in development, with the script and casting underway. Prakash Jha said, “Raajneeti (politics) ki yatra toh anvarat (constant) hai, chalti hi rehti hai, there’s always been a plan for ‘Raajneeti 2’. While there is nothing concrete in terms of casting and shooting yet, I am currently working on it.”

Jha also reminisced about shooting ‘Raajneeti’, recalling, “The film’s pre-production went on for a year. We cast 8,000 actors for an authentic crowd scene, which was quite a task.” He explained how he managed to assemble such a large star cast. “The good thing about casting was that whoever we approached liked the script and came on board. They felt challenged to perform well. People say it was a commercial success.”
