Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar has been loved by millions across the globe and it’s worldwide collection is proof. The film has emerged as the highest grossing Indian film of 2025 despite being banned in Middle East. For the unversed, the Ranveer Singh-led action spy thriller was banned in 6 Gulf countries – Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, as well as Pakistan.
During a recent interview, the film’s distributor, Parnab Kapadia, opened up about the ban and the massive monetary damage it caused the film’s overseas revenue. Read on to know all he said.
Dhurandhar’s Massive Loses Due To Middle East Ban
During a recent interaction with CNN-News18, Dhurandhar’s distributor, Parnab Kapadia, revealed that Middle East ban cost the film substantial financial loss. Speaking about how the ban impacted the film’s overseas business, the distributor said, “I think this is at least a $10 million (around ₹90 crore) box office loss, because traditionally action films have always performed very well in the Middle East. Therefore, we strongly feel that the film should have received a release there.”
He further added, “At the same time, we have to respect the views, rules and regulations of every territory and country, as they have their reasons. We are not the first film to be denied a release; Fighter was also not released before this, along with several others. We made every possible effort to ensure the film was released, but ultimately, Dhurandhar has found its audience, if not in the Gulf, then elsewhere.”
About Dhurandhar
Written and directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar is produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Aditya and Lokesh Dhar under the banners Jio Studios and B62 Studios. The spy action thriller features some of Bollywood’s finest stars, including Ranveer Singh. Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal and Rakesh Bedi. Debutant Sara Arjun also plays a pivotal part in the narrative.
Giving the film a 4-star rating, Bollywood Bubble wrote in its review, “Hamza is not a larger-than-life super spy like Tiger or Pathaan, he’s an every day, simple man who is willing to move mountains and rivers to keep his country safe. The makers have made sure his character is human and that the biggest plus for the film. Dhurandhar’s music, cinematography and dialogues along with a well-written but lengthy script also deserve rounds of applauds.”
After 26 days of running in theatres in India, the film’s NBOC has amounted to Rs 754.50 crore. Globally, the film has earned over Rs 1100 crore. Despite the Gulf ban, Dhurandhar earned around $27.5 million overseas, including $17 million from the North American market alone.
Dhurandhar Part 2 will release in cinemas globally on March 19, 2026 in 5 languages – Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.
