Actor Ranvir Shorey opened up about turning down a role in Tiger Zinda Hai and why he still agreed to appear in Tiger 3 despite not liking his character in the third instalment. Ranvir said he was offered Tiger Zinda Hai after appearing in the first Tiger film. However, he felt disappointed by the smaller role and lower payment offered.

Ranvir Shorey On His Return In Tiger Franchise

Speaking to Digital Commentary, he stated, “The role was smaller than what I had in the first film, and so was the fee,” Ranvir shared. “I was surprised. If my work was appreciated, then both my screen time and fee should increase, not decrease. But they said, ‘This is all we can offer.’ So I rejected it.”

Despite this, Ranvir returned for Tiger 3. He explained that after veteran actor Girish Karnad passed away, he was the only actor left from the original Tiger cast. The makers approached him again, but the role was minimal; his character was to be killed off.

“They wanted me back just to kill the character. I was angry and said, ‘Fine, I’ll come to give my character a proper death.’”

He added that while the payment this time was better, it still wasn’t great. “I did it just to bring closure to the role. His death reminded me of how the first film ended.”
