Ace designer Roberto Cavalli dies at 83; Revisit iconic looks donned by Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra, Aishwarya Rai & others

Italia designer Roberto Cavalli passed away on Friday at the age of 83. He was known for animal prints that were eccentric and flamboyant fashion designs. But much to everyone’s dismay, a great talent like Roberto died at home in Florence after a long illness. “It is with deep regret and great sadness the Roberto Cavalli Maison participates in the passing of its founder Roberto Cavalli,” wrote the company in a statement sent to AFP.

“From humble beginnings in Florence Mr. Cavalli succeeded in becoming a globally recognised name loved and respected by all,” said the company. As the entire industry is mourning his demise, we have realised that many Bollywood actresses have also worn stunning designs of the designer. During the launch of Roberto Cavalli store in Delhi, several Bollywood actresses were seen wearing his creations. Stars like Kangana Ranaut, Sonam Kapoor, Sushmita Sen, Jacqueline Fernandez and others were seen wearing his designs.

Back in a 2011 interview, he was asked what inspired him to use animal prints in his designs. Cavalli told the fashion magazine, “I like everything that is of nature.” He went on to tell the magazine: “I started to appreciate that even fish have a fantastic coloured ‘dress’, so does the snake, and the tiger. I start[ed] to understand that God is really the best designer, so I started to copy God.”
